Dancing with the Stars: Athletes week 2 live stream: Watch online

There’s going to be plenty of dancing on tonight’s episode of Dancing with the Stars: Athletes, with two whole rounds of competition tonight.

Have you grown inured to weekly double eliminations on Dancing with the Stars: Athletes? Well, probably not. It’s only week two, after all. But it seems we’ll have to, because the press release for this week’s episode points out that yes, there will be at least two couples going home. Plurals always give things like that away.

What the press release is far more obvious about, though, is who’s dancing to what on tonight’s episode.

First up, let’s look at round two of the competition: team dances. It seems as though production couldn’t decide on whether to do sports-themed dances or decade-themed dances, then split the difference and went with both.

Team ’70s Football consists of the following four athletes and their partners:

"Adam Rippon and Jenna JohnsonArike Ogunbowale and Gleb SavchenkoJennie Finch Daigle and Keo MotsepeMirai Nagasu and Alan Bersten"

Wait a second. The show has an actual pro football player, and it didn’t put him on the football dance team? What kind of nonsense is this?

Instead, Josh Norman is on Team ’50s Tennis, which … doesn’t seem like it goes together, but whatever, we’ll just roll with it:

"Chris Mazdzer and Witney CarsonJosh Norman and Sharna BurgessKareem Abdul-Jabbar and Lindsay ArnoldTonya Harding and Sasha Farber"

The teams are pretty well balanced according to our power rankings, with maybe the slightest edge going to the ’70s football side of things. But before we’ll see that, we’ll have the individual dances, and the couples are all over the place.

Cha Cha

"Jennie Finch Daigle & Keo Motsepe: “Make Me Feel” — Janelle Monáe"

Yes, this is the only cha cha we’ll see tonight, but hey, it’s a Janelle Monáe song. That’s enough to have us interested.

Foxtrot

"Mirai Nagasu & Alan Bersten: “It’s a Small World” — The O’Neill Brothers GroupArike Ogunbowale & Gleb Savchenko: “What About Us” — P!nk"

Of these two songs, “It’s a Small World” feels like it’s slightly more suited to a foxtrot, but who knows? A P!nk arrangement might be just what Arike Ogunbowale needs to take charge of the leaderboard.

Paso Doblé

"Josh Norman & Sharna Burgess: “The Plaza of Execution” — James Horner"

This song is from The Mask of Zorro, and honestly, we hope that the first week’s great showing from Josh Norman continues into week 2.

Quickstep:

"Tonya Harding & Sasha Farber: “Redneck Woman” — Gretchen WilsonAdam Rippon & Jenna Johnson: “Make Way” — Aloe Blacc"

This may be the most interesting category solely because it’s two of the leaders from last week going head-to-head. We’re going to put the advantage to Tonya Harding based on last week; this dance seems more suited to her style than Adam Rippon’s.

Salsa

"Kareem Abdul-Jabbar & Lindsay Arnold: “La Malanga” — Eddie Palmieri"

We’re continuing to take a page out of Bruno Tonioli’s book.

Viennese Waltz:

"Chris Mazdzer & Witney Carson: “Next To Me” — Imagine Dragons"

It’s hard to keep commenting on individual categories; DWTS keeps hyping this season as super-competitive, so head-to-head competition would be an obvious play to keep that all going, right?
