Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: A solo act becomes a triad

How do you feel about seeing one possibly major development in a Game of Thrones season 8 battle scene? Because there’s already video.

Warning: Game of Thrones season 8 filming might have just wrapped up a several-week shoot, but that doesn’t mean footage can’t still emerge.

Game of Thrones season 8 has spent, according to reports from our sister site Winter is Coming, nearly three months trying to put together a single sequence. Let that sink in for a moment. That’s ridiculous, even for a show of this magnitude. It also means that there are a lot of moving parts. That’s where fans like Davy Orr come in.

They’ve shot footage, taken photos and generally let fans around the world have a hint about what’s to come.

And while this shoot is now over, that doesn’t mean that those fans can’t share some last hints:

While it’s too dark and too far away to distinctly see who’s using these new weapons, that didn’t stop fans from speculating on that, either:

Beric seems like a natural response, but we’ve already seen a sword that bears a closer resemblance to his weapon on set. This almost looks more like glowing rather than proper flaming swords.

So let’s think about what other kinds of weapons could maybe have special properties. Valyrian steel, after all, is said to have some sort of magic in it due to the process of its forging. Most of the methods have long since been lost, but we do already know that it’s useful in fighting the undead. Jon Snow, Brienne of Tarth and Jaime Lannister — all three have Valyrian steel swords — are all allegedly part of this scene. Perhaps something about the battle itself unlocks the magic within? It would seem perhaps out of nowhere, but another fan speculated that dragons are around.

Dragonfire and Valyrian steel could make for a new combination, one we really haven’t seen before. That could lead to this scene.
