14. Iron Man 2

Iron Man 2 beats out Iron Man 3 on this list solely because of the constant barrage of one-liners. Having Nick Fury be more of a central character definitely helps the amount of hilarity, as Samuel L. Jackson oozes hilarious annoyance.

“Contrary to your belief, you are not the center of my universe,” he tells Tony right after asking him to exit the giant donut.

This outing also boasts more Agent Coulson in top-notch form. When he tells Stark that they need him and Stark replies, “More than you know,” Coulson immediately snaps back, “Not that much.”

Switching up actors for James Rhodes from Terrence Howard to Don Cheadle didn’t hurt the character. While Howard des a good job playing the straight man, Cheadle’s turn at Rhodey has a similar edge but masks it with a sense of leniency and flexibility.

One of his most off-the-cuff lines comes near the end, after he and Iron Man defeat Whiplash and he comes upon Tony and Pepper kissing on a rooftop. When Tony tries to scold him, he responds with, “I was here first. Get a roof!”

The Iron Man films have certainly never had issues being funny, and Marvel seemed to know how to take that to other films, too.
