Get ready for summer vacation with new Incredibles 2 poster

The Incredibles 2 hits theaters this summer, and Pixar released a new poster to remind us of all the fun we had with the Parr family the first time.

Sometimes, the Internet watches a teaser, and we think we’ve got it all figured out. That’s what the teaser is for, after all. It’s our first taste of what’s to come. Some, like say, Avengers: Infinity War, start the party early.

Unfortunately, some seem really great at first, then the excitement fades quickly after you think about it for a little while — like the Incredibles 2. Initially, the teaser-trailer gave us everything we wanted: a look at one of our favorite superhero families in a sequel we’ve been waiting for since the credits rolled on the first film.

But if you start to peel back the layers, the Incredibles 2 sneak peek felt more underwhelming than one might expect. In fact, it felt like the film regressed from all the progress the Parr family made in the first one.

However, any Pixar or Brad Bird fan should give the studio the benefit of the doubt. After all, you liked the first one, right?

As if knowing they needed to do something else to excite people, we also have a new poster. More importantly, it’s almost perfect.

Check it out:

Family vacation? Perfect. It’s certainly something the Incredibles 2 movie should touch on. In the first film, the Parr family broke down so many barriers between each other. So, it seems natural that they would be more inclined to spend more time together. Preferably without running around the dinner table.

The eye mask suntan line also feels like the perfect nod to their super alter-egos. Plus, it shows that Incredibles 2 still has a little whimsy in it. Since some are concerned over whether the stay-at-home dad feels like a dated trope, at least we know there may be some aspects in the sequel that feel fresh.

Perhaps the only concerning thing about the poster is how generic it does feel. It doesn’t give us a hint as to what any of their personalities are. For example, a more exciting version would be a roller coaster shot. Imagine they’re all freaking out on a downward slope or something like Disney’s Splash Mountain and we can see all their reactions.

For the most part, the poster is cool. But Incredibles 2 still has some work to do if it wants to excite new fans instead of relying on old ones when it hits theaters this summer.
