Who she is: Elena Fisher is a non-playable character throughout the Uncharted series. She’s an American former journalist, TV personality and foreign correspondent who can handle herself with no problems. She was created to be the female version of Nathan Drake, instead of the girl who needs to be always saved.

Elena is out to uncover treasure and glory with her camera as well as a gun. Alongside her soon-to-be-husband Nathan, she has no issue taking out the bad guys — or saving him when he needs some saving. Throughout the Uncharted series, you see Elena help uncover the secrets of El Dorado, track a Siberian war criminal, and assist in finding Libertalia.

Why she’s on the list: Elena is a modern woman throwing herself into danger and adventure to discover the truth, but there is much more to her character. When she and Nathan get married, his continuing lust for treasure puts a strain on their marriage. She must deal with him walking away and coming back, but that doesn’t mean she puts up with it.
