The X-Files season 11 episode 8 live stream: Watch online
Demons, possible dark witchcraft and creepy masks abound in the latest episode of The X-Files season 11, “Familiar”. Can Mulder and Scully take it?
Demons are wreaking havoc in a small Connecticut town this week on The X-Files. At least that’s what Mulder says as he stands around in some very atmospheric, very humid looking woods. “Someone Is practicing witchcraft,” he intones, as the preview flashes from creepy image to creepy image. “Demons have been unleashed”.
That definitely seems to be the case. We see, briefly, a masked figure with frightfully large teeth and staring eyes. It is accompanied, apparently, by a purple Teletubby that has apparently transported in from some dark hell dimension.
This twisted kid show mascot also has an unnerving tendency to stand just outside sliding glass doors, perhaps bringing back your own particular childhood fears. I know that I took a second glance out of my home’s ground-floor windows. Just in case.
Mulder also appears to face down with a black wolf in the forest. However, after those masks, a wolf that’s just standing there seems like a good boy in comparison. Alas, that probably won’t be the case, though I wouldn’t mind an inverted trope or two in this episode.
Scully, meanwhile, doesn’t have much to do as she’s seen in the preview. She generally stands around and looks concerned, as she well should. That said, it would be a great disappointment if she was simply there, as she has been in lesser episodes. If nothing else, let’s hope that she isn’t confined to a hospital bed or a grim morgue somewhere the whole time.
There is also a little boy wandering alone in a yellow raincoat, just like poor Georgie in Stephen King’s It. Given what we read in the synopsis, along with the creepy standing-in-the-middle-of-the-road trope displayed in the preview, things probably won’t turn out well for him.
Here’s the synopsis for “Familiar”, courtesy of TV Guide:
"Mulder and Scully investigate the brutal animal attack on a little boy in Connecticut, while suspecting darker forces are at play."
Here is when and where you can watch “Familiar”:
"Date: Wednesday, March 7Start time: 8 p.m. ETEpisode: “Familiar”TV Channel: FOXLive Stream: Stream 1 | Stream 2"
Between the “animal attacks” and demonic forces assuredly at work, Scully and Mulder really have their work cut out for them. Sure, they’ve dealt with demons before. They’ve even managed to witness an evil being played by Bruce Campell (though they weren’t much help in that case). But will black magic be too much for them?
Can Mulder survive an apparent showdown with a spooky wolf? Is there a human or an evil spirit beneath that weird Teletubbies costume? Will Scully get some lines of her very own? Hopefully, we’ll learn more this Wednesday, as “Familiar” airs on FOX at 8 p.m. ET.
