I’ve accused Riverdale of having a crystal ball and/or a time machine, but I never imagined they might be mind-readers over there. “Chapter Twenty-One: House of the Devil” is all about FP, and it’s exactly what I’ve been begging for. I don’t even care that we have to watch Archie act like an emotional toddler and Veronica’s low-key rejection of his playground nonsense.

It’s all worth it, folks.

We get lots and lots of Skeet Ulrich as Jughead’s ex-con dad, and nothing could make me happier. His return comes just in time to offer Jughead a little fatherly advice about how not to be an outlaw and criminal, and how to make leather and flannel look both menacing and incredibly attractive. It also looks like he may go head to head with my second-favorite character, Cheryl, as he tries to re-enter society as a waiter at Pop’s. (He’s also a total smoke-show, despite the bow-tie and hat.)

As we saw, in last week’s unusual “Tales from the Darkside,” things took a turn for the weird, and it looks like Riverdale is in for a shift in tone and creep. Couple this with the announcement of a Sabrina spin-off on Netflix, and I’m all in with Archie Universe.
