The good news: Outlander gives Claire some gorgeous 18th century gowns again. The bad news: Jamie wears a powdered wig.
Wow, Outlander is really committed to making Jamie less Adonis-like this season. First he had that thing on his face in “Surrender.” And now, in tonight’s “The Bakra,” he covers up his gorgeous copper curls with a powdered wig. It’s pretty tragic.
Of course, Jamie’s questionable fashion choices are just a fraction of “The Bakra’s” drama. He and Claire — looking amazing in a fancy gown, by the way — hit land at long last, where they cross paths with Captain Leonard and the baddies who kidnapped Young Ian in “First Wife.” You’ll remember that Captain Leonard has a warrant for Jamie’s arrest (and eventual execution), so I doubt Claire will be inviting him to a Porpoise reunion party.
As for Young Ian, he looks fairly worse for wear, a far cry from the happy-go-lucky lad we met mid-season. He’s been beaten, threatened, and imprisoned: in other words, he’s a chip off the old Jamie block. And I’m not the only one to see the parallels between the nephew and uncle. “We have to free him,” Claire announces emphatically. She knows the trauma Jamie lives with every day and will do anything to save Young Ian from the same fate.
Here is the synopsis for “The Bakra,” courtesy of TV Guide:
"The Artemis finally reaches Jamaica, bringing Jamie and Claire that much closer to their goal. During a lavish ball on the island, the Frasers encounter old allies as well as former adversaries who threaten to derail their mission."
