There’s only one episode left of American Horror Story, and this is the cult’s last chance to make America great again- or, at least, to try.
We’re almost at the finish line of what was a long, harrowing, but absolutely entertaining and necessary season of almost-reality television, and though it’s going to be tough to say goodbye, we can all rest assured that we have at least three more years of behavior that inspired American Horror: Story: Cult in real life to endure!
But seriously, though this season took our current cultural climate and amped it up to 100, the over-the-top reflection of what could be has been a strangely welcome respite from today’s real fake news, and I, for one, will miss Kai’s insanity and Ally’s neuroses and Winter’s dangerous chill and Harrison’s refusal to have chill. And, of course, Beverly’s general amazingness — which, if you caught last week’s recap, you’ll know may just turn out to be the saving grace of the whole situation.
After the penultimate episode’s deep dive into the most heinous acts of the cult-iest of cults, the Manson murders, we watched as our dudebro army, headed by a quickly deteriorating Kai, hatched a plot to make their takeover even bloodier and bolder. They didn’t get very far, as Kai was distracted by a possible (which turned out to be definite) mole in the house, his strained relationship with Winter, and the hallucinations of famous cult leaders he’s been taking advice from. Standard fare for American Horror Story; not-so-standard when we remember that these are just ordinary people, living through a scary time, dying to be extraordinary.
To see just how extraordinary things are gonna get, tune in to the finale with us! Here’s how to watch live:
