It’s a Regina-centric episode this Friday on Once Upon a Time! Here’s what you need to know about “Wake Up Call,” the sixth episode of the seventh season.
Have no fear, Evil Regals — our favorite (former) Evil Queen is back at front and center on Friday’s Once Upon a Time!
Regina Mills has, over six seasons, morphed from villain to hero, and has captured the hearts of Oncers in the process — myself included. “Regina is a very powerful character,” Lana Parrilla says of her character. “She’s a very inspiring character. She’s fun. She’s delicious. She’s complicated and complex. Fans have been her storyline over the years, and where she originally started from and where she is now is complete night and day. It’s really her journey has really captivated the audience.” See? Even Lana knows it!
Regina’s character actually helped shape the tone for the show’s soft reboot/seventh season. And via TVLine, Edward Kitsis affirmed fans that Regina will continue to be the series’ main character, that “she’s front and center as always.” It sure seems that way so far: if you think back over prior episodes of season 7, the main story actually revolves around Regina.
The all-new episode will piece together all we know about Roni’s life before the latest curse had taken hold. Not only will her backstory be explored, but we will find out how it ties with the photo of Regina and young Henry discovered one week prior. Says Kitsis, “ don’t really understand where this photo came from and they go out on this hunt to see how it came about. We learn a bit more about Roni’s background, too, and her back story and the things that she wanted and desired in her life that she didn’t necessarily get.”
Additionally, the synopsis says that Roni will seek “Weaver’s help in finding answers.” The big question is: will he actually help her (given his memories have returned), or shall we expect the same ol’ Rumplestiltskin? I guess we’ll just have to see.
In an exclusive sneak peek, Lucy recognizes the photo of Regina and young Henry as a scene from Henry’s storybook, consequently realizing that Roni is Regina. It’s going to be interesting to see how Lucy will help her remember!
Further previewing the episode:
- It looks as if Ivy is going to take advantage of Regina’s powers, using her as a weapon against Victoria. This particular scene in the promo was promising, given that Ivy is awake and plotting for Victoria’s ruin. I like Ivy … I really do. I hope they work together to take down Victoria — I mean, they could have been friends beforehand already! But what is this “brutal truth” that “could lead Drizella down a dangerous path”? I don’t like the sound of that!
- “Tilly offers Rogers some intriguing advice” concerning his daughter, Eloise Gardener. At first, I was convinced that Tilly is Hook’s long-lost daughter, but now I believe that Tilly is actually Eloise’s girlfriend. Are Tilly and Eloise the promised LGBT couple?
With all that, who else is as excited as me?
The full synopsis for “Wake Up Call” goes as follows, via ABC:

But when a brutal truth is revealed, it could lead Drizella down a dangerous path.
