Once Upon a Time season 7, episode 4 live stream: watch online
Belle is returning for the first time since exiting the series — what’s happened to Rumbelle since? Here’s what you need to know about Friday’s Once Upon a Time.
Two episodes back, Emma (Jennifer Morrison) sang her final swan song, forcing fans to say goodbye to the heart of Once Upon a Time. Now, on Friday, Oncers will have to bid adieu to another character, for Belle’s (Emilie de Ravin) tale as old as time will be ending, too.
For as revealed in the second episode of season 7, Detective Rogers (Colin O’Donoghue) is not a cursed version of the captain who had us hooked (get it?) since season 2, but instead is actually the Wish Realm version of himself. However, the same does not go for Rumple (Robert Carlyle) — Detective Weaver is just another alter ego.
“No, Rogers is the only one we’ve done with [a twist on],” claims showrunner Adam Horowitz. “By Episode 4, Weaver being Rumple and all that becomes clear — Weaver/Rumple [is] who [he is] — and you’re going to find out the whole Belle and Rumple story, as well.”
Hence why I can’t wait until Friday. Because I need to know — yesterday.
A series regular since season two, de Ravin exited the series at the close of season 6, alongside Morrison and four other cast members. But upon her departure, it was announced that de Ravin would return for (at least) one episode this season.
From the looks of things, though, this may be her only appearance. Case in point.
Looking at the photos from the link above, it appears to be a flashback into the future, if that even makes any sense. Belle’s hair has turned grey, so what does this mean for Rumbelle? I didn’t want to be the one to ask … but does she die? Rumple’s immortal, but Belle and their son Gideon (Giles Matthey, seen in the photos above) are not. They could grow old and die, while he lives on…
I’m not saying they will die because they won’t. Because she’s a Disney Princess and Disney Princesses don’t die. (I’ll admit that I’m kind of biased here because Belle is my most favorite Disney Princess, but that’s beside the point.) I’m right, though … right?
Also, why is Belle aging but Emma isn’t? If you’re confused, I’m right there with you. I hope they clear this up on Friday, but in a way that makes sense.
Additionally, as seen in the promo footage for the episode, we finally get to know who Tilly/Alice (Rose Reynolds) is, and see what she’s really up to. I want to know what her connection with is Rumple. As previously teased by Edward Kitsis, “Alice is a character in the vein of Rumplestiltskin in that you don’t really quite know what she’s up to, where she’s doing or where she’s been.” I am incredibly intrigued.
The synopsis for “Beauty” goes as follows, via TV Guide:
"It’s Halloween in Hyperion Heights and Victoria forces Ivy to take Lucy trick-or-treating. Meanwhile, Tilly appears to be waking up from the curse and is intent on leading Weaver to the truth — but not if Victoria can help it. In a flashback, Rumple and Belle seek the answer to a prophecy that could cement their happy ending."
