Is there trouble for the blossoming couple of Poldark season 3? It looks like that’ll be the case in episode 3, and here’s where to look.

Poldark‘s already a quarter of the way through its third season, with episode 3 launching it towards the 40% mark. Things have moved quite quickly as a result.

Well, they’ve been moving quickly unless you’re Dwight, thanks to Ross only mostly succeeding in finding out where he’s is, not so much actually breaking him out.

Either way, here’s PBS’ preview of this week’s episode:

"A failed harvest incites food riots, which George handles harshly. Demelza and Ross get a family addition. Morwenna gets an unwelcome suitor in Rev. Whitworth. A clever plan to import grain foils George."

“An unwelcome suitor,” eh? Where exactly is Rev. Whitworth coming from? Did George call him in? There are an awful lot of reverends and preachers hanging around the county currently. Hopefully there’s some way to justify Whitworth’s presence other than “a way to torment Morwenna.” Poldark did pretty well in bringing her in and justifying her existence, as well as the return of Drake and Sam Carne, this season. It’d be disappointing if the trend didn’t continue.

Additionally, it’s time for Ross and Demelza’s third child to arrive. Will we get to see Jeremy weigh in on the existence of his sibling? It would parallel nicely to the other major young boy character, although Jeremy’s a lot younger than Geoffrey. Will it be as dramatic as Julia’s birth way back when?

Somehow, “a clever plan to import grain” sounds like a way to incorporate Tholly into the plot yet again, since he has smuggling contacts. It’d be a very Ross thing to do, and we suspect that he’ll find time to be involved in this as well as everything else he’s currently dealing with right now.

It’s also a subtle way to get back at George without exactly getting back at George, isn’t it? Ross could use some of that in his life.

He probably thinks he does, anyway, or he’ll be moved to thinking he does.
