Randall and Rebecca have a loaded conversation about why Jack and Rebecca decided to adopt Randall from the hospital. Mandy Moore’s monologue is an epic reminder of how wonderful the acting is on this show. Randal pushes for the information from his mom because he wants to adopt a baby now, too. Beth is not as keen on adopting, and we see a little tension rise between the couple. Ultimately, Beth brings Randall to William’s old favorite stomping ground, a park full of basketball courts. She urges Randall to consider adopting an older kid, as opposed to a newborn.
Kate auditions for a wedding band and learns quickly that she’s out of her league because she’s so out of practice. Toby and Kevin fight over what they think is best for her, but Kate stands her ground and says her life decisions are up to her. Go, Kate.
Jack finally admits to Rebecca just how bad his drinking problem is and how long he’s been hiding it from her. The episode ends with Rebecca pulling up to the house, which we then see is burned down to the ground. Is this a hint to how Jack dies? Hopefully, we will find out more tonight!
