Star Wars: The Last Jedi will drop its second trailer on Oct. 9

According to sources around the web (and unofficially, Mark Hamill), the next trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released on Monday, Oct. 9.

It’s been a sad summer for all Star Wars fans, which began with the tumultuous departure of directors on two separate films and the overwhelming possibility that maybe The Last Jedi could be the next film to deliver unfortunate news. Especially since it felt like they were keeping the second trailer from us.

Of course, the first trailer dropped back in April during Star Wars Celebration Orlando and pretty much lit the entire fandom on fire. It acted as our first glimpse into what may be a new side of Star Wars that we’ve never seen. And obviously, it will be up to J.J. Abrams to wrap up whatever new direction Rian Johnson takes the trilogy in. But since production officially wrapped recently, it makes sense now that a second trailer would drop around this time.

Before Star Wars News Net confirmed the release date, rumblings began on the internet. To add fuel to the fire, the Master Troller Jedi himself, Mark Hamill, also instructed fans to watch TV on Oct. 9 specifically. Though he deleted the tweet and chalked it up to a misinterpretation, sources say Oct. 9 is still the right date.

The first trailer set up the whole “gray Jedi” thing that ended up being a really decisive conversation. But there have been many developments since then, like news of how Rian Johnson will handle Carrie Fisher‘s final appearance and more insight into Captain Phasma‘s past.

So, it’s okay if you have no interest in watching football. But you should still stay close to the TV or the internet on Monday, Oct. 9. Once the trailer is released, I’m sure there will be plenty to talk about. I mean, I’m sure we’ll all fawn over Daisy Ridley (that’s not just me, right?) and find ourselves crying over how far away Dec. 15 feels.
