Kit Harington is going to teach us sexy history

“Remember, remember, the fifth of November,” but Kit Harington is going to have us remember him in period dress in his new miniseries.

There’s a new entry on the “British TV that we’d really like to come to America” list, and, like its historical drama cousin Poldark, it stars a dark-haired British guy that’s known for his hair and his really good looks.

Okay, we’re talking about Kit Harington.

We are, in fact, talking about dirty Kit Harington wearing period dress and a hat. Yes, all of these things matter.

But, just to make a suggestion, BBC America just wrapped up Orphan Black, won’t have Doctor Who until Christmas, and already has an October that features Queers and Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective AgencyGunpowder would probably make the perfect trifecta, since it stars yet another dark-haired dude. (Queers has Ben Whishaw; Dirk Gently has Elijah Wood. We rest our case.)

Granted, planting bombs under Parliament is not necessarily the sexiest history ever, though it is fascinating. It doesn’t necessarily have a ton of American appeal just based on the subject matter, either, since Guy Fawkes Day is not a thing typically celebrated on this side of the Atlantic. But hey, it’s Harington (with some fantastic hair, which is really just standard). He automatically ups the sexy points. That’s just how these kinds of things work. We don’t make the rules.

It’s also possible that it could air simultaneously (or at least on the same day, thanks to pesky time zones) in the United States, since it wouldn’t hurt for everyone involved in this production to benefit from the focus of the series.

Who, by the way, is Kit Harington.

According to Variety, the series will air in the autumn on Saturdays in the U.K. Logic suggests that it might finish airing on Nov. 4, since that’s the day before the crucial day of the Gunpowder Plot. Since there are only three episodes, that would wind back to Oct. 21 and air one episode a week.

Of course, all of that is a guess.
