Antiope from Wonder Woman is getting a Funko Pop! that’s as awesome as she is

Wonder Woman has proved popular enough for Funko to put together a second wave of figures based on the movie, including Antiope.

It’s no secret that Wonder Woman is rather a big deal in terms of the cultural zeitgeist. At a time where things seem … well … scary and awful, it’s nice to retreat for a little while into a world where protecting others in the name of love is important. And, of course, looking at cute things helps sometimes.

With a hat tip to CBR, it appears Funko has agreed that it’s time to bring more WW to the world in the form of fresh figurines.

There’s a December date for the Pop! set and November for the new Dorbz.

Yes, that means that you can have Antiope on your desk, looking both cute and badass at the same time, because those things are not mutually exclusive.

One great thing about this collection so far is that the figures are mostly of, well, women, which CBR only slightly picks up on when it dubs WW a “women-led film” and is mostly talking about the film’s financial performance. Let’s do the math, though.

Steve Trevor only has one Pop! that also comes in a combo pack with Wonder Woman herself; Ares’ final form has a Pop! and a Dorbz, but that’s it. Meanwhile, Diana has a ton of different Pop! figurines, with the number now up to nine counting all the exclusives, and now both Etta Candy and Antiope are also Pop!-ified.

Funko has really done well with incorporating action poses into its Pop! line thanks to the use of clear plastic to help stand the figures up, like the Harry Potter SDCC Pop! that showed him playing Quidditch. Compared to early amiibo from Nintendo (like the Super Smash Brothers Link whose support column is bright yellow), it’s a very discreet way of diversifying the line.

According to the Funko news blog, linked above, Diana holding the ice cream she enjoys so much will only be at Hot Topic, while the hooded version is non-exclusive.

Hopefully these new WW toys won’t be as hard to find as Themyscira.
