Orphan Black season 5, episode 7: Watch online
“Gag or Throttle”:1) What S and Sarah are going to do to Rachel once they find her and 2) the name of this particular episode of Orphan Black.
Please, please, please let this be the final showdown between Rachel and the rest of Clone Club. As entertaining as it is to see the Pro-Clone and Sarah insult each other, I’m ready for this particular storyline of Orphan Black to wrap up. Rachel is a compelling character–she is complicit in her own sisters’ exploitation and refuses to apologize for it. But we’ve seen her flirt with joining the rest of the Ledas a lot over the past few seasons. It’s time for her to follow in her mother’s footsteps and make a decision once and for all.
Judging from “Gag or Throttle’s” episode synopsis, it seems that Rachel might be finally ready to permanently defect to Clone Club. Here it is, courtesy of TV Guide:
"As Westmorland demands a more aggressive action on Kira, and Sarah fights to save her daughter, Rachel finds a dark secret that makes her question her place within Neolution. Elsewhere: Cosima returns with a vital clue to Westmorland’s true identity."
Maybe the resident Bad Clone is having a crisis of conscience? Rachel has always harbored affection for Kira–and heartbreak that she is unable to have biological children of her own–so it would make sense that subjecting her niece to what she went through is the straw that finally breaks the camel’s back. Let’s hope so because, as we enter Orphan Black‘s final episodes, I just want to see all the Ledas working together to take down Westmorland, who is the patriarchy incarnate.
This week also sees the return of Gracie, the Prolethean turned Leda and Castor ally. It looks like Gracie will be paying a visit to Helena, probably with a warning. (Remember, Helena is still unaware that Neolution is planning to harvest Kira’s eggs.) I expect we’ll see Helena go full mama bear in order to protect Kira and her own unborn children. Also, if anyone can show Rachel the power of “sestrahood,” it’s Helena, right?
