Food Network Star season 13 episode 6: Watch online
Season 13 of Food Network Star hits the halfway mark. The competition heats up with summer parties and potato dishes.
The competition is getting heated on season 13 of Food Network Star. Half of the finalists have been kicked out of the kitchen. Now, the remaining finalists must prove their worthiness to become the next food television personality. With the winning combination of star power and culinary authority, only one person can get the job of their dreams.
Over the first half of the season, a few finalists became favorites. Clearly, Jason is the fan favorite. Online polls show that he is hands down the most entertaining part of this season. But, some of his dishes have had faults. Still, Jason is, and should remain, a front runner.
Other top contenders seem to be Cory, Matthew and Rusty. Cory has the most culinary authority. The professional, award winning chef has created some of the best dishes of the season. Matthew and Rusty usually perform well. Occasionally, their on camera presence and dishes have faltered.
The men, particularly Southern men, have dominated this season. Jason, Cory and Rusty all come from the South and make Southern inspired food. This culinary point of view would be a good addition to the Food Network.
Unfortunately, the women may not be ready for stardom. Addie seems a little too rehearsed and stilted. Amy has cooked some amazing dishes, but she appears a little unpolished. If I had to pick a dark house, it is Amy.
According to the Food Network, the episode 6 synopsis states:
"It’s halfway through the competition, so it’s time for midterms! Each of the remaining seven finalists must make their best potato dish and overcome the one thing in the competition that has been holding them back. Then it’s time to celebrate summer with Tiffani Thiessen, who helps Giada De Laurentiis and Bobby Flay judge the finalists’ efforts as they each host a summer social gathering for a crowd of people in a park."
If crowd size influences the winner/loser designation, my money is on Jason, yet again. People love him. He engages people and he knows how to turn a phrase. Let’s hope that his food is as impressive as his personality.
