For the penultimate episode of season 3, The Flash brings back two familiar villains. Catch all the action with our live stream guide.

If nothing else, at least The Flash has rediscovered its sense of humor. With the addition of Tracy and Barry’s temporary amnesia, the past couple episodes displayed a goofy lightness that we’ve been sorely missing. For a moment, it felt like the Flash we fell in love with again.

But is it too little, too late?

This week’s episode, “Infantino Street”, appears to continue the fun. Here is the official synopsis, courtesy of The Futon Critic:

"THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS; WENTWORTH MILLER RETURNS AS CAPTAIN COLD – With only 24 hours left until Savitar murders Iris (Candice Patton), Barry (Grant Gustin) struggles to save the woman he loves and makes the choice to use any means necessary to do so. Realizing he has one option left to save her, The Flash turns to Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) for help."

Okay, so “Barry has a day to save Iris from being murdered” doesn’t exactly scream “fun.” Still, Captain Cold never fails to energize the show (his introductory episode, “Going Rogue”, remains a series highlight). Now that Snart is no longer a Legend, we hope he can become a more regular presence on The Flash.

In more worrying news, the trailer for “Infantino Street” heralds the return of King Shark. As we said, The Flash works best when it doesn’t take itself too seriously. But with only two episodes left in the season, bringing back King Shark seems like a massive waste of time. Despite the high stakes, there’s no sense of urgency.

Who knows? Maybe King Shark will prove integral to the overarching narrative.
