Barney Stinson – How I Met Your Mother

Barney Stinson is a total womanizer and lech, but man, does he look good in a suit. He has some questionable morals and attitudes about women, but you have to hand it to a man who knows how to differentiate between a top-notch and double-breasted suit.

Loosely a symbol for the greed and excess of corporate America, Barney evolved from a caricature to an actual person over the course of the show. We got to know him as a human and forgave him for all the gross stuff he did for fun — namely objectify and abuse women.

But for all the changing he did, one thing remained consistent for Barney. He always adored a good suit, and wouldn’t be seen without it. He owns hundreds of suits and took pride in each and every one. The decision about which suit to wear was one of great importance to him, and he agonized about it, especially on his wedding day.

Maybe his addiction had more to do with his need to control a very out of control existence, or maybe it was just an extension of the greed metaphor. Either way, the suit became almost synonymous with his character and it was a staple joke among the friends.
