“Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” Season 4 Episode 16 Synopsis: “What If…”

“Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” is back! After a decent-length hiatus, our SHIELD compatriots return in a twisted episode. We’ve got the official synopsis!

Get excited, because Agents of SHIELD returns this week! It’s been a long, long time since our last new episode, and it ended on such a good cliffhanger!

In case you’ve forgotten, Agents of SHIELD’s last episode left off with Dr. Radcliffe murdered by Aida (as the biggest threat to the Framework) and the Superior now a jar in a head controlling an LMD of himself.

And that’s not even the fun part: Daisy and Simmons jumped into the Framework to save their friends. Simmons is seemingly dead (or pulling a Nick Fury at the end of The Winter Soldier) and Daisy is still dating Ward.

The official synopsis, courtesy of ABC:

"Hail the New World Order! Daisy and Simmons uncover secrets and lies in a world gone mad. With Hydra in control, they are our only hope to save everyone."

Oh man, I cannot wait for this episode. And their Twitter has been killing it with fantastic artwork, like this one of Coulson’s job in the Framework:

What the heck is the Cambridge incident?! And why have we yet to see Lincoln in the forty seconds of the Framework we’ve seen? Maybe it was something he did that set off a chain reaction of bad publicity for Inhumans.

So how long do you think it takes Daisy and Simmons to break everyone out of the Framework? One episode would suffice, but does that really feel like enough? It has to last for at least two episodes, right?

Because you know they’re going to get blindsided by seeing their friends in completely uncharacteristic roles.
