With Oscar night quickly approaching and Joan Crawford without a nomination, things are bound to heat up in Hollywood on Feud.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year … at least for film nerds and pop culture connoisseurs alike. But for Joan Crawford, who we found out at the last second in episode 4 did not get the Oscar nod she was expecting, this glamorous evening is sure to be a nightmare. Luckily for us, though, this week’s Feud promises to take us inside all the drama, heartbreak, conniving, and live-from-the-Santa-Monica-Civic-Auditorium excitement of that evening in 1963. And, because this is a Ryan Murphy show, we can bet that the facts will be accurate, the story will be riveting, the guest stars will be bountiful, and the ladies will be holding precisely nothing back.

Check out the synopsis for this week’s episode, provided by TV Guide:

"Bette is on track to win a record-breaking third Best Actress Oscar and Joan and Hedda launch a clandestine campaign against her."

As the trailer teased us, we’re not only getting a look into the ceremony and all the pre-packaged Hollywood magic that envelopes it, but the days leading up to the Academy Awards. Bette has been nominated for Best Actress, and Joan has not. Though any other actor would likely take this news as definitive (this was pre-Kanye West, remember), it seems that Joan and Hedda Hopper are hatching a plan that will do quite the opposite. And whether their plot to get Joan home with that Oscar works, or is an embarrassment and a failure as huge as the one everyone had expected Baby Jane to be? We’ll just have to wait and watch- as we do every other Oscar night- live.
