It’s hard to believe this season of Arrow still has seven more episodes to go. Oliver and friends have already been put through the wringer, their morals and relationships tested by perhaps the show’s most daunting villain yet. Now, with Oliver imprisoned by Prometheus, Team Arrow has no leader and little support.
How will they get out of this one?
Tonight’s episode, mysteriously titled “Kapiushon”, looks pivotal – not just to this season, but also to the show as a whole. Read the synopsis, courtesy of Screen Rant:
"Prometheus (Josh Segarra) goes to great lengths to break Oliver (Stephen Amell). Meanwhile, in the flashbacks, Anatoly (guest star David Nykl) becomes worried about Oliver’s increasingly violent tendencies, which come to a head in a brutal confrontation."
Arrow tends to structure its episodes according to a set pattern, not unlike a sitcom. Each hour includes an “A” plot, usually following Oliver and involving a case of the week, intertwined with “B” and “C” subplots that follow other characters. Judging by the synopsis, though, “Kapiushon” will center on Oliver alone. Count us intrigued. Who doesn’t like a good bottle episode every once in a while?
One thing worth remembering is that the showrunners originally envisioned Arrow lasting five seasons. That means we should expect some closure in terms of Oliver’s arc. With its theme of legacy and frequent callbacks, this season certainly has a sense of finality to it, even though we know it won’t be the end.
Prometheus offers Oliver – and the show – a prime opportunity to confront his past. Suffice to say, this won’t be your typical therapy session. The trailer below gives us a sneak peek at what’s in store for the bow-toting vigilante:
