Arrow Season 5 Episode 16 Live Stream: Watch “Checkmate” Online

With Prometheus’s identity revealed, Arrow season 5 is approaching its endgame. Here’s how you can watch this week’s episode online.
Did everyone enjoy the week off? Hopefully, your break was free from TV-related emotional stress, because we’re sure to get plenty of that in the weeks ahead. With eight episodes left in the season, Arrow looks to get down to business; there’s no more time for dilly-dallying.
We left on a big cliffhanger. Susan Williams, once again employed and newly reconciled with Oliver, ran into Adrian Chase, who we now know has been moonlighting not as Vigilante, but as Prometheus. After a period of manipulating the Green Arrow covertly, it seems that Prometheus has decided to step up his game.
Check out the synopsis for this week’s episode, ominously titled “Checkmate,” courtesy of The CW:
"Oliver (Stephen Amell) gets closer to the truth about Prometheus. Meanwhile, Helix refuses to continue helping Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) until she does a favor for them."
Now, this isn’t the first time Arrow has employed dramatic irony, disclosing a villain’s identity to the audience while withholding it from the characters. In season 2, we found out that Slade Wilson was alive – and equipped with an eye-patch – a full six episodes before Oliver did. This enhances the suspense, forcing us to wait for the other shoe to drop.
However, if the trailer for “Checkmate” is anything to judge by, we won’t have to wait quite so long this time.

It looks like Oliver will learn Prometheus’s true identity from none other than Talia al Ghul. Arrow confined the assassin to flashbacks thus far, so it should be interesting to see how she’s incorporated into the present narrative. What brings Talia to Star City? And how does she know so much about Prometheus? Anyway, we look forward to Lexa Doig taking on a more sizeable role.
As odd as it may sound, we also look forward to Arrow tightening the noose around Oliver and friends. The show is at its most thrilling when things look bleak (but never hopeless!) for Team Arrow. How will they get out of this one?
