14. Dave Chappelle: The Age of Spin and Deep in the Heart of Texas

Coming to Netflix: March 21, 2017

When Dave Chappelle decided to make a comeback, he did it with a proverbial bang: he crashed town halls, he hosted Saturday Night Live, and he lined up three Netflix comedy specials. Each of these three new specials should have its own entry into our list of the 15 Netflix comedy specials we highly recommend, but two of them (out of three) has a premiere date (March 21) as of this writing.

The teaser to promote the special, which was released on March 2, proved that even though Dave Chappelle’s been away from the spotlight for more than a decade, he hasn’t lost an ounce of his edge. “If Martin Luther King had a sneaker deal,” he said in the teaser, “we would still all be in the back of the bus.” The Age of Spin will drop on the same day as a second Dave Chappelle comedy special, Deep in the Heart of Texas. A third special has also been lined up, but its name and premiere date have not yet been released.
