Is Victoria on PBS New Tonight, February 26?
Those looking to avoid awards shows tonight might turn to the royalty of Victoria on Masterpiece. Here’s what you can expect to see tonight.
Victoria won’t last forever, but it has been airing pretty regularly over the past few months. Sunday nights on Masterpiece are pretty much anchored by the show right now, since Sherlock, Poldark, and the rest of the current British series are currently also not airing. Tonight, however, if you’re looking to watch something not named the Academy Awards, you’ll be out of luck for a fresh episode of Victoria.
Per PBS, there will however be something to watch. It’s just a marathon instead. You can watch the first six episodes all in a row. For example, WGBH in Boston will start with the very first episode at 4 p.m. ET and end with the sixth episode starting at 10 p.m. ET. That’ll basically get you through the entirety of the Oscars and the red carpet. (Victoria does have some wonderful costuming, after all.)
Unfortunately, that also means that there won’t be an actual new episode of the show tonight. You’ll have to wait until next week to actually see the season finale and the birth of Victoria and Albert’s first child.
However, worry not. The second season of the show has already started filming. BBC America notes that Jenna Coleman started shooting season 2 about a week ago. Here’s a photo from the show’s official account:
In fact, PBS had already picked up a second season way back in September of last year, according to this report from Deadline. Since the show’s already filming, is it possible we’ll see it airing relatively concurrently to when it will in the United Kingdom? After all, Poldark started in early September last year in the U.K., then about three weeks later here in the States.
