1. Toto IV by Toto in 1983

Do you remember the band Toto? No? Well, they have a Grammy for their album featuring the song “Rosanna”. Really that’s probably the only song you’d know off the album and the only reason we still know the song is because it is constantly featured in commercials or random television shows.

The thing about this year is that Toto beat out amazing artists. Yes the albums nominated might not have been their best work but they still are remembered. To be fair, once I realized that “Rosanna” was on this album, I knew who Toto was. But that’s the problem right there. I had to look up who they even were to figure it out.

The thing is that Toto beat Paul McCartney and Billy Joel. Really. Two of the greatest living artists we have were beat out by a band whose biggest song is that one song you remember from commercials.

And to be completely honest, even Paul McCartney’s worst album is better than someone’s best. And that is definitely the case here. Tug of War is a pretty decent album and should have beaten both Billy Joel and Toto. But here we are, in 2017, and the album has nothing. But at least Toto has a pity award, right?
