In one corner, it’s “Buzz Lightyear… Space Ranger!” And in the other, a powerful Sith. Watch as Buzz Lightyear fights Darth Vader in this fan-made video.
Created by Nukazooka, this Darth Vader vs Buzz Lightyear showdown depicts what would happen if Buzz Lightyear was a little more than an “action figure” or “child’s play thing.”
While the Force has always been strong with Darth Vader, Buzz Lightyear has a little light bulb that blinks and comes from the Gamma quadrant of Sector 4, where he fought alongside the Galactic Alliance. The battle begins when Buzz Lightyear’s ship crash lands on some random planet (probably, Eadu) and he prepares to fight the evil Emperor Zurg. Of course, it’s not really Zurg, but Darth Vader. Immediately, the otherwise realistic portrayals become more humorous as Darth Vader looks around wondering who the heck Zurg is. For any Toy Story fans, the joke here is that Zurg is Buzz Lightyear’s father. Obviously, Darth Vader is a father … just not to Buzz.
At first, Darth Vader appears to have the upper hand. But Buzz manages to get a shot in before losing his arm. At this point, I was hoping for a Mrs. Nesbitt joke. Alas, they missed the opportunity. Then, Darth Vader Force-pushes Buzz away, but thanks to his ability to “fall with style“, Buzz’s jetpack kicks in. And allow me to say that the effects used for the jetpack are well done, right down to the blue coloring instead of red flames. Because if we consider the amount of oxygen and (probably) propane used in a jetpack, blue’s a better color to use. It’s simple combustion, like a stove gas burner.
And just when it seems like things are going to be especially gritty, Buzz throws a rock at Darth Vader that damages his suit. Suddenly, the way he says, “You don’t know the power of the Force” is much squeakier — after, he throws Buzz around like a rag doll and sends him to the Moon.
In a surprising turn of events, the video becomes much more hopeful towards the end. After Buzz falls to Earth a second time and his batteries fall out, a lonely cowboy stumbles upon him. He recognizes the markings at the bottom of Buzz’s shoe and says, “Well, what do you know?”

Though the video ends, I choose to believe that Buzz rebooted in Spanish. Also, I’d like a follow-up where Jesse meets Princess Leia.
