If there’s any question whether we need a young Princess Leia origin film, let this Star Wars/Stranger Things artwork silence all your doubts.
Next year, the Han Solo standalone hits theaters and will feature Han Solo, Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian. Naturally, that leaves only two legacy characters left: Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. But honestly, all the movies are about the Skywalkers. We need an Organa spinoff. More specifically, a Princess Leia Organa spinoff. Despite being Force-sensitive, Princess Leia was never tempted by the dark side. Further, she opted to serve as Alliance General instead of wielding a lightsaber and becoming a Jedi.
Now, Stranger Things’ star Millie Bobby Brown has already expressed an interest in appearing in the Star Wars franchise. Of course, she’d probably make an amazing Princess Leia. But in case you’re having a hard time, here’s an illustration (thanks to io9):
L.A.-based artist Michael Maher Jr. created a brilliant Stranger Things and Star Wars mash-up. His artwork paints exactly what Brown would look like with the iconic Princess Leia buns. Obviously, the rest of the Stranger Things cast is depicted as well. But as I mentioned before, we only need a Princess Leia origin story at this point.
Considering Carrie Fisher’s recent passing and Lucasfilm’s insistence that they won’t be using CGI to recreate the character, recasting the character may be the only way to see her story continue. Though it’s difficult and possibly too early to think about, Brown’s resemblance is uncanny. The only other person who shares this much likeness is Carrie Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd. However, Lourd’s age puts her closer to A New Hope age than I’d like for the origin story.

On the other hand, it would pretty cool to see Harrison Ford or Mark Hamill appear in Stranger Things Season 2 in some sort of cameo.
