Golden Globe Awards will honor Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds

The 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards will pay tribute to Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds and other actors who passed on last year.
With the award season winding up many are considered how their favorite recently departed stars will be remembered. No one wants a repeat of Oscars ‘In Memoriam’ snub of 2016 where Geoffrey Lewis, Joan Leslie, and Abe Vigoda were entirely left out.
In a recent interview with People, the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards producer Barry Adelman stated “We have not done an ‘In Memoriam’ on the Golden Globes. Those things are handled really well by the Oscars and the Screen Actors Guild.” Thankfully, Adelman caveated his statement with, “But we do realize there were some special circumstances of very recent nature that happened, and I think we’ll be acknowledging that.” Adelman would not do into details on how they would acknowledge the deaths.
This is great news considering we saw the loss of many notable celebrities like Gene Wilder, David Bowie, and Alan Rickman. The most recently passing of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds has hit the Golden Globes hard considering last year Reynolds was presented with SAG Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Golden Globes are awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that honors acting in film and television in 25 categories. Check out the list of 2017 Golden Globes nominees here.
The Golden Globes will be hosted by funny man, Jimmy Fallon. Sharing in the duties of Miss Golden Globe 2017 will be Sylvester Stallone‘s three daughters— Scarlet, 14, Sistine, 18, and Sophia, 20. The Golden Globes will be live on NBC on Jan. 8 at 8/7c.
