Leslie Odom Jr. is ALL OVER THE PLACE lately, and for a very good reason. Heard of that little musical sensation Hamilton? No? Go out and immediately listen to it. Yes? Then you know the magic of Leslie’s Tony Award-winning voice. Odom has already done so much. He already has a hit solo album that features non-Hamilton and non-Christmas music, titled simply Leslie Odom Jr.. Simply Christmas features a smattering of Christmas songs, but don’t let the rather small track listing fool you. Some of the very best songs are featured on the album, though, and sound as if they were written specifically for Leslie’s smooth, rich voice. “Ave Maria” specifically has reached new levels with his version. Like the album title says, it’s a rather simple Christmas album, but that’s because Leslie Odom Jr. doesn’t need a lot of frills. He fills out each track beautifully by himself, making this album easily a timeless classic.
