Our Last Summer

“Our Last Summer” is not even close to being the best ABBA song but it is amazing to watch this scene in the movie. They’re literally on a boat in the middle of the ocean just singing about being hippies. It goes through each of Sophie’s potential fathers and shows their relationship with Donna (Meryl Streep).

What’s amazing is the fact that with each new story, we get a terribly photoshopped picture of each father and Donna from the 80s. Harry (Colin Firth) was called Head Banger and he starts the song off explaining that he went from Paris to Greece for Donna. From then, it just goes through the summer of Sophie’s conception and the stories from each man.

They don’t know that Sophie is only doing this to figure out which of them is her father but it is still a very nice look into these three men. It’s sad in a way because it goes from them all living these ‘rockstar’ lives to now working normal jobs and having families (with the exception of Harry).

But “Our Last Summer” is cute and adorable and none of the men can really sing but it’s a sweet part of the film.
