#14: “Put Yourself First”
In a perfect meta-clichè, Rebecca goes back to camp to get closer to Josh but first encounters a pack of Mean Girls intent on yucking her every genuine, wide-eyed yum. They mess with her a bit, but by episode’s end, the girls not only console Rebecca after her confession to Josh goes awry, but offer the widely-known best and ONLY cure for rejection: a makeover. “Put Yourself First” is a perfect, timely girl-group parody, poking fun at pop songs that somehow claim to push empowerment through looking sexy and subsequently getting hella dudes. The girls are fierce, and they sell it. But Rebecca’s running commentary throughout, and the many, many questions she has (“Is that a thing now?!”) for the seemingly all-knowing teens are 100% YOU every time you’re visiting home and you accidentally find yourself listening to the radio.
