Blossom, Bubbles or Buttercup – The Powerpuff Girls

Why They’re Awesome: If you’re a millennial woman, chances are this dynamic trio influenced your self-image at a very young age. The Powerpuff Girls were the first time we’d ever seen girl superheroes; not sexualized, scantily-clad women, but girls like us. And it’s still one of the only ones I’ve ever come across. Maybe that’s why it was just rebooted this year, for a new generation of girls.

Whether you’re confident like Blossom, sweet like Bubbles, or tough like Buttercup, there was always a way for you to relate to these little ladies as a kid. And now both the original series and the reboot are here to remind us that you can be made of sugar, spice, and everything nice, and still kick butt!

What You’ll Need: First, you need to decide which Powerpuff Girl best suits you, based on personality, or possibly on hair color. Then, the most important ingredient will be a simple, plain dress in your superhero’s signature color; pink for Blossom, blue for Bubbles, Green for Buttercup. If it’s not already hanging in your closet, it’s a guilt-free purchase, since you can wear it again in real life! Round out the outfit with a black belt or ribbon around your waist, white tights, and black flats. To really signify your character, though, don’t forget to style your hair to match Buttercup’s flip, Bubbles’s pigtails, or Blossom’s red hair bow!

Next-Level Move: Make it a group costume! Recruit some differently-haired friends of yours to complete the trio!
