11. Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen

It’s about an apple. It’s about a pen. It’s about a pineapple. Go ahead watch it. Then watch it a few more times. It’ll turn into an earworm drilling into your brain, but it’s never going to make any more sense. This catchy, short tune is from DJ Piko Taro the outrageously animal print clad. Piko Taro is the alter ego of Japanese entertainer and comedian Kazuhiko Kosaka who is also known as DJ Kosaka Daimaou.

Between the nonsensical lyrics and the numerous names, I’m not sure what to think of anything about the song or who the heck the artist behind it is. It’s making even more waves after being admired and shared by Justin Bieber as his “favourite video on the Internet.” And people are comparing it to Gangnam Style, so there are endless videos of fans recreating the video.

Kosaka has helpfully provided another video on how to do the PPAP dance. It’s in Japanese with a smattering of English lyrics, but there are English subtitles. Because you need more help feeling confused and unable to rid yourself of the tune.

This is something that Soda Bunny can totally get into though. He’s got your Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen, baby. Oh yeah.
