Jonathan ‘Black Jack’ Randall FINALLY dead?

Spoiler… Jack Randall (played by Tobias Menzies) dies in Voyager. Well, actually, he dies on the battlefield on Culloden Moor. We don’t necessarily see his death, but as Jamie wakes after the battle, very badly wounded, he finds a dead Jack Randall lying on top of him.

Murtagh is also dead. Jamie has no memory of how either of them were killed, or why Black Jack might be on top of him.

What is interesting about how the book begins (what I just described) and how the show is supposedly beginning, with the actual battle playing out, is that we will get the opportunity to SEE how Black Jack, and Murtagh, are killed.

Or will they even be killed?

Tobias Menzies, who plays both Jonathan ‘Black Jack’ Randall and Frank Randall, will certainly still be a huge part of the show through season 3, but will Black Jack still be a threat? I’d say it’s unlikely.

As far as Murtagh, it’s definitely a toss up. I’d like to see Murtagh stay alive, but I’m not sure what value it will add to the rest of the show.

I’m so excited to see how the battle plays out and what Ronald Moore comes up with for Black Jack’s demise. And, of course, to see Jamie post-battle, coming to terms with his apparent immortality.
