The Clansmen unite!

One of the unique things about this story is that a lot (most) of the history is accurate. The characters, as is true for most historical fiction, have been fabricated then plopped into real happenings. Details? Probably speculated, but not entirely untrue. Some things are more plausible than others (Loch Ness? Time travel?), but the events surrounding these smaller details are real.

The Jacobite rising and war between the clansmen and Red Coats was very real, and because of that, there is a sense that this season is a sort of eulogy, or tribute to the Scots who fought and died.

About season 3, Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser) said, “It felt like everyone was really desperate to get into this battle. This is a big part of our culture and our history.”

This picture quite obviously depicts Jamie and his clansmen running into battle. Probably on Culloden Moor. Because a lot of the actors in the series of Scottish or European descent, there ought to be a lot of emotion left on film for us.

Outlander has not been a stranger to awards and accolades. Could this scene bring a major award to Outlander or one of it’s actors? I think I hear “And the Emmy goes to…” already.
