On Thursday, Pottermore unveiled the Official Patronus Test, after years of fans clamoring for one. Unfortunately not everyone got what they wanted.
When Pottermore first arrived a few years ago, there were two big tests everyone took. One was for your House, and the other was for your wand. The House ones were pretty easy, if you paid attention to the questions, you could easily land the right answer Wands were a little harder, especially for the American muggle not steeped in the pagan lore that many of the wand details pull from.
In the last year, we’ve had two new tests. the first for the American wizarding house, which seemed oddly unbalanced as over 50% of respondents all seemed to have landed in Thunderbird. Then this past week, we got the Patronus test. An oddly trippy experience, this one was not only confusing for Potterheads, it was also nearly impossible to game out what the right response was to get the animal you’ve had in your head all these years.
My Patronus! (image via Ani Bundel)
I was lucky–somehow in why answers I landed pretty close to my imaged Patronus–I got a black and white kitty instead of a calico. Some of my online friends landed a pretty cool answer: one told me she got a Thestral. But for others here at Culturess the answers were…strange to say the least. As strange as the test.
