Taco Truck Corner: Thanking Trump for Our New Taco Overlords
By Kalistrya
This week the internet welcomes the new Trumpian Taco Overlords with cheers and memes at every corner. Culturess joins in with a song parody.
In another chapter of “They Said What?!?” in the 2016 election, Marco Gutierrez gave us the quote of the week. About taco trucks. As founder of Latinos for Trump, Gutierrez was interviewed by Joy Reid on MSNBC and said:
“My culture is a very dominant culture, and it’s imposing and it’s causing problems. If you don’t do something about it, you’re going to have taco trucks on every corner.”
The threat didn’t exactly cause people to quiver with fear. Instead the world had a Homer Simpson style moment with a collective thought of “Mmm, tacos.” I myself ran outside to see if there was a taco truck on the corner. Sadly there wasn’t and I had to go to the grocery store for taco making supplies.
One thing has been made clear in this election. The internet loves tacos. Here’s a sample of the social media taco joy:
Cosplayer AvantGeek’s Taco Belle photo naturally made a return showing on Facebook as the symbol of taco beauty and grace.
It’s not just digital mocking though. Democrats in Denver trolled Trump’s campaign office by parking a real taco truck out front to register voters.
Here at Culturess the taco truck on every corner just brings out the parody songwriter in me.

Taco Truck Corner
Sung to the tune of House at Pooh Corner, with apologies to Kenny Loggins
Dangerous Donald and Pence walked along
Acting like a terrible cartoon
Posing their questions to wealthy donors
As stump days disappeared all too soon
But he’s wandered much further from script than he should
And he can’t find his way back from falsehood
Bankrupt him if you can, he’s got to get
Back to the Taco Truck Corner by two
You’d be surprised, there’s progress to undo
Count all the hats in the mob
Build all the walls to the sky
Back to the days of Dangerous Donald and Pence
Donald the Drumpf doesn’t know what to do
Got a deporting plan to disclose
He went to Dole asking help and advice
And from here no one knows where he goes
Bob sent him to ask of GOP if they’re there
How to restyle his awful mess of blonde hair
Elect him if you can, he’s got to get
Back to the Taco Truck Corner by two
You’d be surprised, there’s progress to undo
Count all the hats in the mob
Build all the walls to the sky
Back to the days of Dangerous Donald and Pence
It’s hard to explain how he’ll fund all the things
To make America great again
After all’s said and done he hopes he’ll have won
Standing there with Mike Pence by his side
So he plugs away, ranting on and as I was going
I swear that the old hair whispered, “Boy, is he dumb!”
Believe him if you can, he’s got to get
Back to the Taco Truck Corner by two
What does he know, there’s progress to undo
Count all the hats in the mob
Build all the walls to the sky
Back to the days of Dangerous Donald and Pence
Back to the ways of Dangerous Donald and Pence
Back to the lies of Trump
