The 20 Best Costume Designs from Outlander Season 1 and 2

13. 1960’s Claire Randall Fraser
If you were alive during the 1950’s through 70’s, you would recognize this jacket. Almost everyone had a coat or couch that looked virtually identical to this jacket. The costume team hit it out of the park with this wool plaid tweed jacket with brown quilted shaped buttons. The color of Claire’s coat matches everything she has on and everything in the room. She is very much looking the part of a mom of a certain age who is still in mourning. It is almost as if she was never able to put on color again after leaving Jamie in 1800’s. She is just living surrounded in muted brown colors. The gray streaks of hair did little to age Claire since gray hair color is now very modern with current young women hair fashion.
Some fans of the show might not be familiar with post-WWII, 1800’s Scottish and Parisian fashion; they know American 1960’s style when they see it. I bet you can almost remember the feel of the rough tweed fabric against your skin.
