17. Arrival in France
Claire and Jamie have just landed in France looking like the Scottish farmers who just got off the proverbial vegetable cart. I guess that is better than fugitives. They are not ready to meet any aristocrat in the clothing they left Scotland. They do not even have a real plan of how to keep the Scottish clans out of this inevitable war with the English. As a couple, it also looks the most comfortable and happy they had been in France. It could be the distance they put themselves from the Red Coats. I think it had to do with the hope and optimism they could change history.
It reflects in the clothing they wore. One would think the newlyweds purposely dress alike. They gravitate to the same tan and green colors of the Frasier plaid. They can be in 18-century French Court or 1960’s, but they do not change who they are. At the very core, Claire and Jamie are Scottish landowners who love each other and want to take care of people.
