11. Claire’s Dior inspired Bar Suit
If this looks very familiar to the dress from the previous slide, it was because it was on purpose. Terry Dresbach inspiration for this dress is from the iconic 1940’s Christian Dior Bar Suit. She spoke about it with InStyle why Dior inspired this particular dress.
"“When I look to the 1940s, it was all about this iconic Dior look. Christian Dior based his collection on historical costumes from the 18th and 19th centuries.”"
Claire being the 1940’s woman we know her looks completely at ease in this dress. The cream color of the jacket and gloves sets off the black in the full skirt and hat. Claire stands out from the crowd of over-ornamented women of the Paris Court. Her lovely full curves are on display. Claire’s dress also gives an air of she ready to work to save Scotland and ultimately her husband, Jamie. Claire is nothing but feminine but also pragmatic when it comes to the way she dresses. The real Dior Bar Suit is on display at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery.
