Aaron Rodgers’ Family Problems Just Got More Public

The Green Bay Packers have missed out on Super Bowl LI, but quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ family problems just got more public and complicated.

Aaron Rodgers is the superstar quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. He’s enjoyed 12 successful years in the NFL without one sniff of a scandal until recently. Rodgers has never spoken much about his family to the press. Everyone just assumed it’s just something that he wanted to keep private. This all changed when his little brother, Jordan, appeared on the 12th season of the ABC hit television show The Bachelorette. 

No one put together that Aaron and Jordan are brothers until he dropped that little bombshell on the show. Jordan wasn’t done yet spilling the tea on his Super Bowl MVP brother, though. During a hometown visit, he suddenly dropped how strained Aaron’s relationship is with his immediate family. He stated Aaron isn’t a fan of his lifestyle and hasn’t spoken to the family for the past year or two.

It didn’t take long for the news pick up the story and ran with it. Speculation swirled and unfairly the blame for the Rodgers family rift landed firmly on Aaron’s superstar girlfriend, Olivia Munn. To Aaron’s credit, he hasn’t engaged the gossip except to say in an interview with WISN Sports, “I haven’t seen the show, to be honest with you, so it hasn’t affected me a whole lot”. Just in case his family wasn’t paying attention, he made it clear in the interview how he feels about his family talking about private matters publicly.

"“I’ve always found it a little inappropriate to talk publicly about some family matters, so I’m just — I’m not going to speak on those things, but I wish him well in the competition.”"

You would think after the 3rd-degree burn Aaron just gave his parents they would just back off. Unfortunately, Aaron’s father, Ed, didn’t get the memo. Just recently he gave an interview to The New York Times about his Super Bowl winning son. He stated, “Fame can change things”. He admitted going public with the family division wasn’t something he wanted but is glad it came out.

Aaron’s girlfriend Olivia Munn has been silent on the entire situation until now. She took to Instagram to congratulate the Green Bay Packers on a great season even though they missed the Super Bowl. She also slipped in a subtle dig about “choosing to put out only positive energy.”

To be honest, I’m surprised it took her so long to say anything publicly about the situation. She is a very vocal person, after all. I’m sure that she stayed silent out of respect for Aaron. It’s fair to say that a Rodgers family reunion is not on the horizon. That’s especially true if his family keeps going to the media about it. Painting Olivia Munn as a shameless Jezebel who broke up the family is not going to help the situation. If they ever want to repair that damage that has been done, they should do some real soul searching on what they might have done to cause this problem.
