Video game news rolls on this week as we jump into November. There were a ton of releases this week, so let's start there.

New game releases this week

Well, we kind of missed it last week, but Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 officially launched last Friday, October 25. It's got pretty decent reviews, too, so if you're a fan of COD, you'll probably want to jump into this one, too.

Next up is Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which released on October 31. With player reviews still waiting to come out on Metacritic, the reviews from critics are fairly positive. IGN gave it a 9/10 and Gamespot gave it a 7/10. I don't know that it will ever live up to the hype and expectations of a decade of waiting.

Last up this week is Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, which feels unnecessary for a game that still looks gorgeous. But Gameranx has a solid breakdown in their "Before You Buy" where there's more than just a graphics update to make it look more on par with Horizon Forbidden West.

Alan Wake 2 soundtrack on vinyl

We'd be remiss if we didn't cover everything Remedy Entertainment. They announced Thursday morning that Laced Records is putting our a four-vinyl LP of Alan Wake 2 music, including the original score, "Yötön Yö,” Poe's songs, and "Herald of Darkness." It's $88, which is a little hefty, but it is four records.

Sony officially shuts down Firewalk Studios and Neon Koi

With the crapshoot that was Concord, Sony announced this week that it's officially shut down Firewalk Studios. You can read the whole email here, but this shouldn't be that much of a surprise.

In the same email, they also announced the closure of Neon Koi, which is a mobile developer, which is something Sony's only starting to dip their toes into.

Fandom and Gamespot layoffs

Fandom announced earlier this week that it was laying off 11% of its staff. Gamespot was hit pretty hard, including a lot of video developers and the UK staff. There's not much known yet, but former employees took to Twitter to announce the bad news.

An interview with Machine Games

IGN got an exclusive interview with Machine Games, the studio behind the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. It's a really interesting read and has us even more excited for when this comes out in December (and not just for Troy Baker's excellent Harrison Ford impression!).
