Video game news round-up: Week of June 7, 2024
Video game news is going to explode this weekend with Summer Game Fest starting on June 7th, but that doesn't mean there wasn't news to discuss since last week! Let's dive right in.
Hogwarts Legacy's free summer update
Hogwarts Legacy launched a free summer update on June 6th! It's nothing too spectacular; the biggest thing is the new photo mode and a quality of life update where you can reset your talent tree points.

Like A Dragon TV series
It wouldn't be a week of video game news if there wasn't an update on yet another video game adaptation to TV/film.
Amazon Prime announced the release of their future Like A Dragon TV series based on the Yakuza video game series, releasing this coming October. It is a six-part crime-suspense-action series based around Kiryu Kazuma and takes place in two different times: 1995 and 2005.
Summer Game Fest: Curb your expectations
Geoff Keighley came out earlier this week to let fans know to curb their expectations with regards to a million new game announcements during Summer Game Fest this weekend.
In a live stream Q&A on their Twitch channel, he said that while there will be new announcements for new games, most of Summer Game Fest will be "existing games that have new updates for fans.”
The two things I'm hoping for are an announcement/reveal of the DLC for Alan Wake 2, Night Springs, which is all but a given if you look at their social medias over the last week, and an announcement for Hollow Knight: Silksong. But that one feels like a long reach.
Netflix announces a bunch of new video games
To remind us all that they do, in fact, also have video games, Netflix just announced over a dozen new video games that will come to the streaming service. This includes a game based on their popular Emily in Paris and a mobile version of Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game, the cozy game LOTR fans are dying to get their hands on.
