This week's video game round-up of news comes with some reveals about upcoming games, a deeper dive at a game we've been waiting for, and an open beta opportunity, so here we go!

The Plucky Squire sneak peek trailer

We've had our eyes on The Plucky Squire for a while now, and it's still saying it'll be released sometime in 2024! And now we've got a sneak peek trailer that gives us a closer look at some of the gameplay and characters. Check it out below:

This game is coming to the Nintendo Switch sometime in the latter half of 2024.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom additional details

Us gamers are always grasping at straws and trying to take things with a grain of salt. The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) came out with its official rating for Echoes of Wisdom (E for everyone, no surprise). But the surprising part is what it gives away. Here's the official release:

"This is an adventure game in which players assume the role of Zelda as she attempts to dispel rifts throughout Hyrule and rescue Link. From a ¾-overhead perspective, players explore various environments while fighting stylized enemies (e.g., humans, creatures). As Link, players use a sword and arrows to defeat enemies; Zelda can use a magic wand to summon creatures (e.g., wind-up knights, pig soldiers, slime) for battle. Some enemies can be defeated by being set on fire; other creatures dissolve into mist when defeated. Battle sequences are somewhat frenetic, with several enemies attacking/fighting at once."

So we'll be playing as Zelda and Link. Which is interesting. We'll have to see how they spin that when the game releases on September 26 because so far all we've seen is Zelda.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Beta Dates Confirmed

It wouldn't be a week without a Call of Duty update of some sort. This week, it's the confirmed dates for the beta! This will be the first time the beta will be available across all platforms, too.

Early access is August 30 to September 4 and the open beta is from September 6 to September 9. If you're a Game Pass subscriber or a pre-order, you'll be in the early access.

Remember last week's Emio trailer?

Yeah, remember last week when we showed you that creepy trailer for Emio on the Nintendo Switch? Well, we got the full name for the game this week, and it's Emio - The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club. And it launches on August 29th.

This feels like an old-school throwback, as it's the first installment in the game since 1989. Nintendo released remakes of the first two Famicom Detective Club games (The Missing Heir and The Girl Who Stands Behind) in 2021.

You'll play as an assistant private investigator with the Utsugi Detective Agency, and you're working on solving the mystery behind the death of a student whose head was covered by a paper bag with a smiling face drawn on it. It's similar to an urban legend from years before, so you know it's going to get creepy.
