Taylor Swift Forays into OTT: ‘The Eras Tour’ Soon Premieres on Disney+
Swifties are in for a treat this month, with Taylor Swift’s new album announcement at the Grammys, and now the streaming debut of the Eras Tour on Disney+.
Disney CEO Bob Iger on Wednesday during the company's first-quarter earnings call made some exciting revelations, one of them being earning streaming rights to Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour concert film. Not just there, the streaming version will cover the entire concert featuring 5 new songs including "Cardigan."
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) will be available on the platform streaming worldwide on March 15, 2024. The film's theatrical version arrived in October last year and has been one of the highest-grossing concert films earning more than $262 million worldwide. Taylor Swift’s partnership with the theatre chain AMC came as a banger for all the Swifties when she announced her concert film hitting the cinemas.
“The Eras Tour has been a true phenomenon that has and continues to thrill fans around the world, and we are excited to bring this electrifying concert to the audiences wherever they are, exclusively on Disney+, " said the Disney CEO during the call.
Iger also announced that Moana 2, a sequel to the 2016 film will also hit the theatres this November creating a whole lot of excitement among Disney fans.
Well to look at the bigger picture, it is a total win for Swift and Disney fans alike, for fans who couldn't attend the Concert film earlier can now relive and have their little Swiftie moment from the comfort of their homes. Adding to our excitement, we also have Taylor's upcoming album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ coming on April 19th.
Taylor also took to Instagram to share this exciting news with her fans, calling Disney+ the streaming home for The Eras Tour Concert film. All things aside, we are as pumped as she is, and with our excitement on high tide, let's mark our calendars for March 15!
