Simone Biles defends her husband from social media users trolling him for wearing her gold medal

Simone Biles is an Olympic champion. Not only does she have multiple gold medals, but she is the 2024 Olympic All-Around Gymnastics Champion in Paris. And yet, instead of getting to celebrate her wins, it seems that she is still having to defend herself against haters and trolls.

In the latest "controversy" for social media users, it seems that a number of people have taken issue with Biles' husband Jonathan Owens being photographed wearing her gold medal around his neck.

Over on Instagram, Owens decided to celebrate his wife and her achievements with a beautiful post about her success at the Olympics. The caption for the post reads, "Witnessing history every time you step on the mat. Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!! Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! So thankful i was there to see it." Of course, this is also the post featuring the picture of Jonathan Owens hugging Simone Biles while he wears her gold medal.

So of course, instead of celebrating Simone Biles and appreciating the fact that this man is her husband and she was clearly fine with him wearing her medal, people decided to tear him apart in separate posts/videos.

According to Page Six, this led to Biles jumping to the defense of her husband and herself. In fact, she commented on the video criticizing Owens.

"Crazy thing is, I put my medal on every single one of my family members and took pictures. So don’t ever make assumptions. Like y’all are so [f] miserable. Leave us alone."

Honestly, Jonathan Owens wearing Simone Biles' medal is such a non-issue, that it is surprising to even think that people are criticizing him for this moment. There are so many videos and pictures of other Olympians handing their medals over to their loved ones. And this includes Biles passing her medal around to the rest of her family. So why was Jonathan Owens wearing the medal such a problem for people, when it is so obvious that she is the one who handed it over to him. (It's not like he ripped it out of her hands and laid claim to it.)

At this point, people just need to leave Simone Biles alone. She doesn't deserve to continue being trolled relentlessly for even the most minor things.
