How many gold medals have the members of the USA Woman's basketball team won?

The Team USA Woman's Basketball team opened their Gold Medal quest with a powerful 102-76 win over Japan. This was their first of three group play games. This portion of group play will conclude on August 4, and the four remaining teams will begin the Quarterfinals on August 12, 2024.

Versus Japan, A'ja Wilson led the team in scoring with 24 points, followed by Breanna Stewart who scored 22 points. All 12 players on the team logged minutes in the contest.

WNBA was well represented at 2024 Paris Olympic Games

There is a record 31 current WNBA players representing their countries at the 2024 Olympics, surpassing the previous mark of 26 set during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. There are three first-time Olympians on Team USA; Alyssa Thomas, Kahleah Copper, and Sabrina Ionescu.

Additionally, NBA players are also breaking records with players participating in the 2024 Olympic games. The 2024 games will mark the most NBA players playing since the 1992 games when it was ruled NBA players are allowed to compete in the Olympic Games.

How many gold medals have the members of Team USA won?

The 12-member roster features nine returning athletes and three first-time participants. The nine returning Olympians have had tremendous success with Team USA, winning a combined 17 gold medals. Team USA is led by the legendary Diana Taurasi who has won five golds with Team USA.

She and Sue Bird hold the record for the most Gold Medals won by a single player in Olympic Basketball history. They are the only two players in either men's or women's Olympic basketball to win five or more gold medals.

If Team USA goes on to win Gold once again, she will become the first player to win six gold medals in basketball.
