The Super Bowl may be an iconic sporting event, but we all know the real takeaway from the big championship game is the commercials.

Year after year, viewers clamor to find out which of their favorite brands will be having a spot, which celebrities will be making a surprise cameo, the iconic Half-Time show, and, if that is all impressive, they may stick around to find out which team is bringing home the title of Super Bowl Champion.

M&M's will be joining the hype this year with a brand new Super Bowl LVIII campaign and highly anticiapted ad.

M&M's is partnering with three NFL Hall of Fame Legends and "almost champions" who had just missed their chance to bring home a Super Bowl ring in each of their respective Super Bowl appearances - Dan Marino, the Miami Dolphins Quarterback, who lost to the San Francisco 49ers in 1984, Terrell Owens, a Philadelphia Eagle, who lost to the New England Patriots in 2005, and Bruce Smith, who appeared in four consecutive Super Bowls with the Buffalo Bills, but never walked away with a victory.

As everyone knows, the Super Bowl's victorious team gets the honor of Super Bowl rings, their own trophy, and a declaration that they will be going to Disney World, while the opposing team receives nothing.

But, M&M's is changing that tradition with their latest ad. The brand is introducing an entirely new creation, "M&M's Almost Champions Ring of Comfort," featuring real diamonds that have been made in a specialized lab from M&M's peanut butter candies.

The ad has the M&M's characters providing comfort to the trio of NFL Legends and describing how the ring was made and the science behind it.

When discussing their involvement in the new Super Bowl ad, the Legends each had their own reasons.

""The M&M's Super Bowl campaign highlights the essence of sportsmanship for me - celebrating all players for the endless, demanding effort they put into their craft while enjoying the fun of the game. Historically, only one team walks away with a championship ring, but Mars's inclusive message to inspire moments of happiness and to bring fun to everyone on and off the field really resonated with me. Just like the game itself, stay tuned for the ad's full release as there are always some surprising twists.""

Dan Marino

""I'm no stranger to laying it all out on the field and still not seeing those efforts result in a win. You're not going to win every game in life, which is why you've got to remember to have fun through it all. I applaud M&M's for making it a point for offer fun and comfort for everyone - especially in such an unexpected way.""

Terrell Owens

""I love the M&M's Almost Champions campaign because I've been in that position before, and compassion, humor and fun are key in getting through the initial disappointment. This campaign focuses on all of those things, and I hope it inspires others to embrace those moments and use them as motivation to work even harder for their goals.""

Bruce Smith
